What is the NDIS?

The NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) is a comprehensive insurance program designed to adopt a lifelong approach, investing in individuals with disabilities early on to enhance their future outcomes. This scheme enables participants to access the necessary funding to receive care and support aligned with their personal goals and ambitions.

The NDIS also offers individuals with disabilities, along with their families and caregivers, valuable information and referrals to existing community-based support services.

Participants receiving NDIS gain the decision-making power regarding the nature and location of their support services, with the flexibility to make changes as circumstances change.

As an NDIS registered service provider, Shine Occupational Therapy is dedicated to collaborating with our clients and their families to achieve their desired objectives.

How do I register for NDIS funding?

To register for the NDIS, you will need to reach out directly to the NDIA (National Disability Insurance Agency) at

1800 800 110. The NDIA will then provide you with further details about the registration procedure and organise to send the application to you.

Who is responsible for the payment of my services if my child has NDIS funding?

Once your plan has been implemented, you will have the opportunity to discuss your preferred plan management option. Depending on who you allocate this to, Shine Occupational Therapy will issue invoices accordingly. The three available plan management options via NDIA are as follows:

Agency Managed – NDIS will make payments directly to your service providers (Shine Occupational Therapy).

Plan Managed – A third-party provider takes responsibility for claiming NDIS funds for your child. Should you opt for this route, it becomes your responsibility to select a Plan Management Agency. Shine Occupational Therapy will then forward invoices to this agency for payment of rendered services.

Self-Managed – You are responsible for payment of all service invoices. You may subsequently seek reimbursement for these expenses directly from NDIA. Payment for services at Shine Occupational Therapy is expected on the appointment day.
